Food and Water Security
Maasai live in the savannah grassland. Although fertile, the land is often dry especially with declining rainfall and frequent drought cycles. Along with population growth, wildlife conflict and a livelihood dependent on pasturing cows, the Maasai are predisposed to food and water insecurity.
AfricaHope assists communities in gaining access to water and exploring alternative livelihoods in farming, protecting clean water wells and natural springs, and learning proper animal husbandry. We also work with schools, churches and farmers’ groups to restore the environment through tree planting and agroforestry.
