We believe there is a Christian response to problems in all areas of life. We seek to empower people to act out those responses in their lives. We have seen that Christ brings hope - the hope of a mother who finds out her child is HIV negative, the hope of an orphan who finds love in an unexpected place, the hope of a man who has found forgiveness at the foot of the cross. This is a hope that transforms lives and communities. This is AfricaHope!
The holistic restoration of rural comunities in Narok, Kenya.
To see God's dominion restored through Christ believing communities and transformed lives
Since 2003, our efforts have involved different ways to meet the needs of the Church and the Maasai people, who deserve better health for their children, sustainable food sources and an opportunity for education. The morphology of our approach directly points to the ever growing status of our region over time. Click on the timeline to explore our 5 year milestones.
We started AfricaHope with famine relief; spreading the word of God from one community to the next and giving them hope in the midst of inadequacy, vulnerablility, under-repsesentation and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. With the motivation of legal registration and an operations' base, we opened the doors to AfricaHope Center in 2003.
As Kenya's rate of literacy plummeted in 2007, our region was ranked among the most illiterate. We established the Education program, starting by working with communities to build schools, enroll vulnerable children and give select adults an opportunity to acquire basic literacy skills. Everyone can now fully participate in their communities' development.
As we cared for the sick, poor and orpharned during the HIV/AIDS crisis, we took it one step further and addressed the overall health needs of our people. The health program explores preventative health and digs deeper into spiritual and physical health. From training communities to providing resources, this data-driven program is inspiring holistic health.
In our drive for systematic change, we encourage our communities to take charge of their development. With the establishment of The enterpise program, our people grow to value their hard work by starting Kingdom-impact businesses. Self sustenance now involves dependance on God as He works through work in a community.
Family Partners gives us all the opportunity to empower entire families, ensure the care of all children and expand the care we provide to the communities in rural Kenya. Connecting well-wishers with families has enabled over 500 families to make progress in reducing poverty and educate their children. Become a family partner.
Early in Tim's life, 1 John 5:12 convicted him to desire LIFE. Soon after, he met a missionary named Phil Hudson who led him to Christ and discipled him. After training as a school teacher, Tim earned a community development and Christian ministry degree at Daystar University. The challenges of disease, poverty and a lack of access to Christ prompted them to start AfricaHope in 2003. Tim added a masters degree in Disaster management and sustainable development.
